Albedo

The whitening — the second stage of purification where clarity emerges from the darkness of nigredo.

After the blackening of nigredo comes albedo, the whitening. This stage involves washing, purifying, separating the subtle from the gross. Psychologically, it represents gaining clarity about one's patterns, seeing through former illusions, beginning to integrate Shadow material consciously. The albedo brings relief after nigredo's despair but is not yet complete transformation — it is clarity without full embodiment. In film, albedo moments often occur when protagonists finally understand their situation and begin consciously working with it rather than being unconsciously driven.
