Rubedo
The reddening — the final stage of alchemical transformation where opposites unite and the Philosopher's Stone is achieved.
Rubedo is the culmination of the alchemical work — the reddening that produces the Philosopher's Stone or elixir of life. It represents the union of opposites: conscious and unconscious, masculine and feminine, spirit and matter. The rubedo is not a return to the original state but a genuine transformation — the creation of something that did not exist before. Few films depict authentic rubedo because few protagonists complete genuine transformation. Most end at albedo (clarity) or fall back into nigredo (destruction).
